ENGLAND SWINGS LIKE A PENDULUM DO ,GERMAN TV AND TRAFALGAR SQUARE
Let's see it has been awhile........Oh yeah, last we talked I was In Cologne doing interviews looking at the cathederal. Later that night We did a Tv show that has a house band so I just sang out front with Isaak. Like we were Sam and Dave ! they had there own drummer and they put a horn section on Blue Hotel . We sounded like the Dandy Warhols! A great band by the way . That guy Ewan Mac gregor was on the show talking about some motorcycle show he did where he drove around the world .......Actors what are you going to do ....
Anywho then we were off to London. Man they have really cleaned up London .They cleaned off Big Ben and other monuments and it looks great . Plus, the weather was like 82 degrees and gorgeous. The deposed prime minister of Thailand was in the news ,and in place in his luxurious park lane apartment which we drove by on the way to do TV . I guess a bloodless coup can be pretty glamorous.
We stayed at this hotel that we hadnt been in in years . It was the one where we stayed when Wicked Game was hittin' in 1990. It was winter then and I remember opening my curtains and there were all of these children sledding on the snow covered hill in Hyde Park which is next to the hotel. This time it was arab sheiks . They took over the whole top floor and this sheik dude parked his screaming purple Lamborghini with Dubai plates out front . Man chicks dig Dubai plates on the back of the ride!!! Trust me on that one.
Saturday we only had one radio show to do and it was with our old friend Jonathan Ross. He used to have a TV show , again, when wicked game was hittin' and we were on his show a bunch . His house band were the guys from Elvis Costello's band . And we had a lot of fun with them back then . Anyway it was great to see Jonathan . So then we had the rest of this gorgeous day to our selves and a car to go anywhere in ,so we did . We tried to go to some antique stores but they were all closed on Saturday which I dont understand . Maybe you have to not have a job to be rich enough to afford those mayfair antique stores . ...I will never know. So we decided to go over to Covent garden , then to Leicester square, then over to seven dials , then over to Trafalgar square . I told the fellows that ,that was Lord Nelson on top of that beautiful monument but I also told them he died in that battle but he got a nice consulation gift in that nifty monument. I love my history. I am reading like my fourth book on Sir Francis Drake while I am here in Britain. You know he landed in Marin County California ,where I live, like in 1578...Can you imagine that ! I bet there wasnt even one Denney's back then . Right before we went back to the hotel I said lets go over and see the Battasea power station because I know Isaak likes Architechture. It is a real creepy and maybe the only SCAREY building I can think of . And there it was as creepy as it wants to be . I see scaffolding so maybe they are fixing it up ....London really did show off this trip . It was beautiful and a blast. I cant wait to go back and play some concerts.
I am back home now for a little bit before we go to France . I love me some France .But right now I am totally jet lagged. I woke up this morning at 3:30 am totally refreshed!!!. So I am going to go walk my dog ....and get some sun.
