CASINO IN THE DESERT, A LONG BUS TRIP AND THE ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES

I am moving ever closer to Texas!
On Friday we played at the Soboba Casino ,which is out in the desert towards Palm Springs. It took us so long to get there from L. A . that we pretty much just got there and jumped up on stage and played and left . It was Stevie Nick's Birthday so we gave her a cake and that was fun . She is such a sweetie. I think I am gong to be stuck out on long island for my birthday . Hey any of you New Yorkers email me at showfolk@aol.com if you know of some fun things to do on long island . We had never played that casino before . It is always nice to have another venue to play in California . That no good johnny Reno was in Palm Springs ,less than an hour away , and I couldnt talk him into coming. After the show we had a pretty long bus ride. Let me hip the uninitiated about tour busses. Interestingly we had about a 13 hour trip to Albuquerque. Now that sounds long to the uninitiated. It is actually easier than , say, a 5 hour trip. Here is why . On a long trip like that one . After the show you get on the bus and you hang out with the guys, watch a movie , shoot the sh#t, for a bout 2 to 3 hours . Then you go to sleep in your bunk for 8 hours . That adds up to 11 hours, then when you wake up you have 2 hours left to watch America go by . And you are fully rested. On a five hour trip . Just as you are getting to the rapid eye movement you have to wake up get your luggage, and go to your hotel room where hopefully you can go back to sleep and get the rest of the sleep you need . On the bus ride on Saturday I woke up at about 7:30 got a cup of coffee and watched New Mexico go by . It is very beautiful with big buttes and such. the land of enchantment. I love watching America go by .
So I had the day off and I went touristy . I went down to the old town Albuquerque. It is very quaint with a church built in the 1700's and lots of shops . It was very cool because a mariachi band was playing the whole time . I adore Mariachi. In fact I once took a vacation to Guadalajara Mexico just because that is where mariachi was invented . It was great . ........
Then that night . Last night. I went to a baseball game which pitted the Albuquerque Isotopes against the Nashville Sounds.
They are both Triple A baseball clubs . As you can imagine the Isotopes have some mad logos.....So natuarally I bought a hat.
They also had Indian Tacos there . Which is a delicacy native to new Mexico .They take Indian fry bread which is like a big pizza dough thingy ,but different. And they throw green chili.or red chili on it along with beans and cheese ,and if you get both, it is called a christmas indian taco, .....get it red and green......chrismas.....anywho.......I love Triple A baseball because generally if you can pitch ,the major league team that you are affiliated with calls you up immediately. So it is such a hitters league . The Isaotopes are the Florida marlins Triple A team and the Nashville team belongs to Milwuakee. And man were they raking it last night ....I saw 2 homers...a triple and lots of slow pitching ! I went to a triple A game in Salt Lake one time and it was like 13 to 12 !!!!!!
So I play tonight in Albuequerqe, then Denver, then Oklahoma City where my dad is from , and the relatives are coming out of woodwork.....then Off to Dallas and Houston for more relatives. A very busy Johnson family week!!!
